Our client, Kilkenny College is a co-educational boarding and day secondary school under Church of Ireland
management. Its modern campus and excellent facilities are located on a 45-acre site on the outskirts
of Kilkenny. The school has a current enrolment of 920 pupils of whom 460 are boarders.
The Finance Manager will report to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and is a member of the College leadership team providing overall direction for the company. The Finance Manager is responsible for the control and management of all financial functions within the company and for supporting the senior leadership with the information required to perform their functions effectively.
The role includes but is not confined to the following:
• Preparation of a monthly Trial Balance, preparing and reconciling management accounts & associated analysis.
• Preparation of budgets / cashflows and forecasts for various projects.
• Establish and maintain cash flow management policies and procedures.
• Reconciliation of bank accounts and other control accounts.
• Maintenance of creditors ledger (suppliers/accounts payable)
• Maintenance of debtors ledger (clients/accounts receivable)
• Preparation of the weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll.
• Prepare Package of Financial information for Board of Director meetings including P&L,
• Preparation of various submissions to revenue and other 3rd parties.
• Organising, facilitating, and liaising with the external auditors on the annual audit
• Deputise for the COO during periods of annual leave or other absences.
• Utilize Lean Six Sigma principles to identify areas for improvement in financial processes, such as budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Take lead for the Administration and Accounts department, reporting to the Chief
Operations Officer whilst ensuring office procedures and operations are maintained & improved where possible.
• Assisting with general administrative activities as required.

Qualification & Experience
This position would suit an ambitious qualified accountant with 5 years+ Accounting experience.
Degree in accounting, finance, or related area essential.
Recognised accounting qualification essential.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is highly desirable.
Proven experience using an IT accountancy and payroll package, Sage 200 an advantage.
Highly numerical individual with strong analytical skills.
Strong IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office suite including excel.
Strong attention to detail with proven experience in high volume data entry.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal communications skills, oral and written communication skills.
Highly motivated with an ability to take ownership.
Ability to work independently and as part of a leadership team.
