General Operative – Manufacturing – Portlaoise

Job Title:

Manufacturing Operative

Essential Functions of the Job:

Hours of work: 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to
3.30pm on Friday.  (39hours)

Outline of the role:

The role of the Manufacturing Operative is to assemble mainly air moving and air cooling units and all other products manufactured by the company.

You will be required to be flexible to work in other areas of the factory and to perform other general manufacturing functions as may be required by – product assembly, machine operating, spray painting etc.

Duties: 

1. Follow work instructions for directions to assemble and test product.

2. Assist in the set-up of production lines

3. Operate assembly equipment and hand tools as applicable to the
product type assigned.

4. Build products to work instructions, specifications and workmanship requirements.

5. Record labour on transit ticket.

6. Use the department Production Manual as a reference for general procedures and workmanship standards.

7. Observe and ensure compliance with all company safety rules and regulations.

8. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all departmental procedures.

9. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by Area Leader / Manager.

10. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.

11. Achieve production targets.

Key Skills:

1. Good hand/eye coordination

2. Experience using a variety of hand tools and power tools.

3. Experience (even a basic knowledge) of mechanical,
engineering, electrical, plumbing or metal Fabrication would be
an advantage

4. High concentration levels.

5. Very safety conscious.

6. Experience in factory work an advantage.

7. Understanding and reading mechanical drawings.

8. Familiar with Continuous Improvement Programs.

Minimum Requirements 

• Previous experience in a production environment.
